SERVE WITH US
The family is God’s fundamental unit of church and society, founded on the marriage between one man and one woman. The Family Ministry aims to strengthen marriages and equip parents to build Christ-centred families in WEFC by empowering the older generation to teach the younger ones how to live godly lives in speech and conduct (Titus 2; 1 Timothy 3:12). At the same time, we seek to care for every member of our WEFC family, in growing together as one body in Christ.
Marriage is so much more than just “the two of us”. It is meant to be a picture of God’s covenant love for His Bride, the Church. It points us to the ultimate Love that was displayed on the cross, where Jesus Christ died to redeem sinners.
Are you and your spouse willing to let your marriage — imperfect as it is — point others to Christ? If you are eager to journey with other couples towards Christ-centred marriages, consider serving together as husband and wife. For both roles below, you need to be WEFC members who have been married for at least 10 years.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSE MENTORS
Mentor courting couples one-on-one to help them prepare for marriage over the duration of at least 8 sessions, and journey with them for at least a year after their wedding. Training and materials will be provided.
Journey with and mentor a younger married couple to help them strengthen and enhance their marriage. Training and materials will be provided.
Inasmuch as a healthy marriage is the backbone of a strong family, good parenting is an essential component of a thriving and Christ-centred family. As Christians, we recognise that our children are a gift from the Lord, and see our roles as stewards of the precious lives God has placed under our care. How can we best lead and nurture this next generation to become the men and women that God desires them to be?
It takes a village to raise a child, so let us be that “village” for one another. Both couples as well as individual WEFCers may serve in the following roles.
We typically run Alpha twice a year. Each season lasts 12 weeks. As a host, your role would be to encourage discovery by facilitating and leading group discussions which revolve around the Alpha parenting topics. Training is provided.
Whether you are single or married, we all need a community of like-minded brothers and sisters with whom we can enjoy authentic, life-giving friendship and accountability.
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)
1 Corinthians 12:12-27 reminds us to especially take care of the most vulnerable parts of our body, such as the elderly among us, for “If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.” (v 26)
LOVE THE ELDERLY
